This could be why this product is not available at this time.Culinary Crafter The problem seems to be with the prongs which clip into the base. I have burned myself several times because of this poor design. Not very handy and yes I have tried all of the troubleshooting recommendations from the manufacturer.into the garbage it goes.maybe Cuisinart may be a better choice. Unfortunately I have been very disappointed with this particular model. Although the removeable cooking surfaces are easy to clean.they fall off all of the time exposing the very hot elements, making it impossible to clip back on to salvage the waffle batter which was already poured onto the lower surface. As I try to close the waffle maker, the cooking surface either falls off or swings forward.
I'll wait untilthe products made in China have some quality control built into them. The same thing happened. I purchased this item in April of 2009 and used it once a month. In October after 7 usages it "popped" a loud pop and the circuit breaker shut off. After it cooled off it heated up again so I tried it again in November 2009. I have decided to trash it and switch to pancakes.
We have one of those thick slice toasters so I freeze the waffles for toaster waffles that put Eggo to complete shame. The thing that sold me on this unit was the removable irons. Perfect. The irons and the drip tray go in the dishwasher, with no need to wipe down the irons. I'd give this five stars, but the unit I received shorted out once it heated up for the very first use. It took about 9 to 10 weeks to get a new unit and that unit has performed well. The thermostat is a little off and it runs hotter than it should (if you follow the instructions to the letter, you will get a burnt waffle), but this is easily remedied my turning the temperature dial down a notch.I use the Joy of Cooking waffle recipe for the batter, and I get perfect waffles. Cleanup is a snap.
Also, I wish there were a timer that beeped when the waffle is done. The bottom cooks differently than the bottom.
:( I think it's from the heating coil or something.
Sometimes, you can see a round heat ring in the middle of the 2 waffles. Too bad it's just not perfect.
The waffles come out ok, but the back waffles cook differently than the front waffle. My waffles seem to need 3:15 minutes.
But, the waffles come out tasty, crispy, and fluffy.
3 minutes is a perfect time for the waffle at setting number 6. But, if you can find one snatch it up.To make the perfect Waffle.Put one measuring cup full of batter in the middle of the waffle iron. This is the best Waffle Maker I have ever used. I don't know why Krups discontinued making it. Close the lid and you should have 2 perfect waffles everytime.
